RAHWAY HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS of 1953

George Rand, a Franklin School classmate has passed on. I have some memories of George that are precious. George was left handed and he learned to write "upside down." I believe he was taught to write like a right handed person. Playing out in the school yard, baseball or otherwise, George's white shirt always seemed half out of his pants. Charlie Rand is George's cousin. Notice that a good number of George's children still live in NJ.

RAND, GEORGE W. SR., 70, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday (July 27, 2005) at Bayfront Medical Center. He was born in Rahway, N.J., and came here in 1988 from Port Reading, N.J., where he was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the First Aid Squad and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked for three years at Publix supermarkets and was a driver for PAR, both in St. Petersburg. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marion; two sons, George W. Jr. and Brian, both of Phillipsburg, N.J.; four daughters, Linda Rand, Vineland, N.J., Maryellen Santorreli, Sewaren, N.J., Donna Ng, Monroe, N.J., and Cherri Ann Terebey, Oxford, N.J.; a sister, Cathy George, Walnutport, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
