Following are the classmate memories we have received...memories from RHS and Rahway. No doubt each of us can relate to many of them. Enjoy!
Classmates have sent in articles that relate to the 50's. While not specific to RHS and Rahway we can all relate to them.
... to read them.

Alice Christ Caggiano Remembers:
| Ice skating and canoeing on Milton Lake, summers at the Roosevelt School playground, the first eighth grade at the scary High School, square dances on the tennis courts at Rahway Park, Steve reading the news in Mr. Berger's history class, flattering gym suits, terror at the blackboard in Mr. Persons' algebra class, wearing a little gold basketball or baseball on a chain, Varsity sweaters, The
Coquettes, Bauer's, the library on a weeknight to "study", full assemblies, Lavallette the week after graduation. |
Frank Feldmann Remembers:
| Great days working at the Rahway Theater as an usher. I got to know everyone. My days working with the class play and assisting on the stage and lighting. My first kiss with Pat Denny. There thousands of other things I could spend a week mentioning. Dozens of great friends that I missed because of loosing touch in my military career. I miss all you guys. |
Helen Richter Wick Remembers:
 | I remember Mr. Valentine's squeaky shoes, Miss LaForge telling me on graduation day, that my dress was too fancy and I should go home and change it. What do you think? Did I or didn't I? I remember singing in the exchange assemblies and at our dances. Who remembers me doing "Get Happy" with a top hat and tux on and black net stockings? Oh please remember! I hope I made an
impression! I remember Shirley Brandt, Margaret Ruscak, May Nowling's and a few more I can't remember their names now, in home ec class. When the teacher left the room we set all the clocks on the stoves to go off. When she came back you should have seen her running around the room trying to stop them. I remember those ridiculous gym suits. Mine was yellow and the elastic on the legs left a mark every time I wore it.
I remember taking Algebra just because Margaret Burke, my best friend in Freshman class took it. I didn't understand one thing and got straight F's. The teacher passed me anyway because she knew what I had done it for. I remember it being the most wonderful time of my life! |
